Heading away from town to the southeast to the intersection where Lower Orange Street, Sparks Avenue, Milestone Road and Old South Road converge and you have entered the area known as Mid-Island.

Mid-Island includes many of Nantucket’s commercial areas, the popular community known as Naushop and the Nantucket Airport. There are large areas of open land where State Forest, Conservation Foundation and Land Bank properties converge. You will also find enclaves of private homes nestled in the moors.

Mid-Island also includes the beautiful hills and moors around Altar Rock to the north and east of Polpis Road.
