In 1966, the National Park Service designated Nantucket town a National Historic Landmark and listed it in the National Register of Historic Places. Some of the many charms found in town are cobblestoned streets, historic whaling captains’ mansions, a vibrant waterfront, and one of the country’s most pristine collections of late 17th to mid 19th century architecture.
