Just beyond the thickly settled historic district of Nantucket Town to the west, south and east is the area we refer to as the “edge of town.” Delightfully rural with open meadows, moors and horse farms yet truly convenient to amenities like the schools, hospital, grocery store, pharmacies and the out of town branches of banks and the post office.
Mill Hill Park (across Prospect Street from the Old Mill), a favorite spot for walking in summer and sledding in the winter, beautiful historic Prospect Hill Cemetery and the Maria Mitchell Observatory on Milk Street are all on the edge of town. People residing in this area are a mix of summer and year-round residents.
